The Velveteen Rabbit
On Christmas morning the boy found him sitting in the top of his stocking with a sprig of holly held between his paws. He was a very fine thing to find. His coat was velveteen, brown and white in patches, and it still had the deep new nap that no hand had yet stroked the wrong way.
